This project explores the nuances and variations of belongingness on a college campus using arts-based methodologies and sound. Thirteen college students participated in walking interviews and focus groups as a part of this study. These audio clips were created from these interactions and combined to create a sonic assemblage of belonging. Through the creation of an interactive digital cartography this research project moves beyond a conception of campus as a static site, producing possibilities for developing place in ways that are responsive to student’s nuanced and intersectional experiences: a different reading of place and belonging in higher education.
